Redmako Brings Local Youth and Businesses Together this Christmas

Queensland Grade 10 and 11 students have the opportunity to partner with local businesses to earn more than just money this Christmas.

“We want to help local teens earn money and a qualification over Christmas in their favourite local businesses. The businesses will also gain their own benefits from placing students in their stores,” Redmako Director Anthony Rice said.

Redmako Learning provides school-based traineeships for Grade 10, 11 and 12 students in Queensland. The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training subsidised traineeships will allow students to earn a nationally-recognised qualification (in most cases, at no cost to them) as well as save businesses from having to advertise and recruit staff themselves.

“Lots of teenagers are looking for jobs right now and lots of businesses need extra team members over the holiday season, so it’s a perfect fit,” Mr Rice explained.

“Some businesses have had a tough year with sales and are placing a lot of their hope in the Christmas shopping and holiday season. School-based traineeships offer businesses the opportunity to improve their labour costs plus the chance to earn Government financial incentives over this time. That really means owners will be able to make the most of the income they earn this Christmas,” he said.

“Our traineeships really are a saviour for local business owners in this busy season – we recruit and place students in those workplaces for free, help those owners attract the financial incentives available for helping up-skill our nation’s youth, and also train those students to be more competent in their roles via very tailored, very fun and interactive sessions.”

“We also hope that this wave of senior school students will then go on to graduate school with their nationally-recognised hospitality qualification, boosting Queensland’s hospitality industry with high quality workers, youth and passion.”

“Our traineeships are a win-win for business owners, local youth and Queensland’s hospitality industry as a whole this Christmas.”
