Introduction

At Redmako Learning we work closely with schools all over the state to provide students with good quality training to gain National Recognised Certificates and Diplomas. Our school programs are delivered by Redmako trainers and teachers at your school, students gain a nationally recognised qualification points towards their QCE. 

Our programs are tailored to fit your school’s needs, we know that not all students are the same and no two schools are alike. We ensure that each of our programs is designed to meet your students’ needs. 

Course Duration – 1-2 years (depending on school’s preference)

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in kitchens who use a defined and limited range of food preparation and cookery skills to prepare food and menu items. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision. 

Students will learn a variety of skills including: 

  • Food Safety 
  • Food Preparation 
  • Workplace calculations 
  • Customer service 
  • Hygiene practices 

Students are required to complete 8 Core units and 5 Electives (electives may change depending on school preference)

This qualification provides a pathway to work in kitchen operations in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes, and coffee shops; and institutions such as aged care facilities, hospitals, prisons, and schools.

Entry Requirements

Eligibility rules apply to students wanting to enrol in this program with Redmako Learning including:

  • Must be aged 15 years or above
  • Students studying in Australia must be an Australian or NZ Citizen or permanent resident
  • Student must be a QLD resident

After enrolling in the course, each student must complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) evaluation. This LLN evaluation will assist Redmako Learning in identifying each learner’s needs and the appropriate support required.

Each student must also provide their USI (Unique Student Identifier) before they will gain access to their materials. If you do not have a USI, we will provide instructions of how you can create one.

Course Fees & Payment Options

The Department of Employment, Small Business, and Training provides funding for secondary school students to complete one approved Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) qualification funded by the VET Investment Budget while at school. It is important for students and their parents to take time to consider their training option and be fully aware of the VET investment budget by referring to the QLD government VETiS School Fact Sheet. 

Students can choose to use their VETiS funding to cover the cost of the SIT20416 Certificate II in Kitchen Operations.
